In my two “Trojan Peace” novels, Andromache comes from the Lukka lands, now known as Lycia. Her time would have been some 3200 years ago. About a thousand years later than that, the Lycians constructed many incredible rock-cut tombs. They honeycomb the cliffs all over southern Turkey between Fethiye and Antalya, although what’s considered the best example is in Myra (in roughly the center of that region). Can you imagine carving these out of stone–using only simple tools and technologies?
